Patricia Bardi is a dance/voice artist, choreographer, improvisational performer, educator, bodywork specialist, licensed natural health practitioner, and registered somatic movement therapist.

Originally from New York and currently based in Amsterdam, she is the founder/director of the VMI Somatic Practice Certification Program combining Vocal Dance, Voice Movement Integration (VMI) Practice and Vital Movement Integration (VMI) Bodywork centered in Amsterdam. She is also the founder/director of Organ Rebalancing – an advanced bodywork training for licensed natural health practitioners.
She maintains a private practice working with children and adults in Amsterdam. She is a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (ISMETA) and a licensed natural health practitioner (BATC).



The VMI Somatic Practice Certification Program is a professionally accredited program as a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist/Educator by ISMETA — International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy Association.

She has developed and taught Organ Rebalancing, advanced natural health practitioner training at numerous holistic health institutes including Dr. Rudolf Merkel M.D.’s School for Cranial Sacral Osteopathy in Zürich. Organ Rebalancing is recognized as a professional level postgraduate training for somatic movement therapists, body therapists, manual therapists, and massage therapists.

The training programs have been audited & approved by the CRKBO as a European professional educational program & continue to be BTW free.


She is a founding member of the School for Body-Mind Centering (USA) and London’s Chisenhale Dance Space. Bardi has toured extensively, teaching and performing at international festivals, universities and theatre schools throughout Europe, North America and Asia. She has received a London Arts Choreographer Award and conducted research on North Indian vocal music in India sponsored by the Arts Council of Great Britain.

For over 35 years, Bardi has developed her approach to ‘experiential composition’ in live performance combining movement, dance, voice & language. She has collaborated with many outstanding improvisers, dancers, actors, musicians and poets including Alex Maguire, Arthur Brooks, Makoto Matsushima, Antonello Mendolia, Sebo Bakker, Felicity Provan, Monica Akihary and MIchael Vatcher.

She has a private practice in Vital Movement Integration (VMI) Bodywork working with children and adults as a licensed natural health practitioner (BATC) and registered somatic movement therapist (ISMETA) with health insurance coverage in the Dutch health care system. Her private practice is located in the center of Amsterdam.

In 1987, Bardi founded the Rocca Project an annual summer program for interdisciplinary performance arts and healing practice in Tuscany, Italy. She has been on the faculty of New York University’s Department of Experimental Theater, the School for New Dance Development, Amsterdam and has presented her work on Vocal Dance at the Centre for Performance Research’s ‘Giving Voice Festival’ in Wales.

She has presented her research on Vocal Dance, Voice Movement Integration Somatic Practice, and Organ Rebalancing at London’s Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, the National Center for Performing Arts in the Netherlands, and the Brain, Body and Cognition Conference at Oxford University. Recently, she has written the chapter "On Voice Movement Integration (VMI) Practice by Patricia Bardi: awakening resonance in the moving body" in Somatic Voices in Performance Research and Beyond published by Routledge.
